Changing Sites
Sian Superman
UPDATE: This is now all done, new RA site is up!
At Raw Art, we constantly strive to make life difficult, unproductive and less profitable. To that end we have changed web hosting, spent weekends re-designing the web site (to make it look almost exactly the same) and similar trifles. Rather than painting any pictures, we're tinkering with html. We're getting migraines. We're losing friends.
It's a January thing.
Anyway, raw-art.co.uk is currently down as we change hosting and move DNS servers.
And you can look at old stuff on this site, and get in touch here.

Robert Wyatt - Original Gold Leaf Watercolour
Sian Superman
Hello!
It's a cold cold day here at Raw Art Towers, the birds are squeaking outside and little chickens are warming themselves by the radiator. It's the kind of day where the skies stay silent and brood over the ridiculous world and look a bit menacing and all that. But without actually raining or snowing.
Anyway, I have here the original Robert Wyatt watercolour which was made into a print a couple of years ago. This has gold leaf surrounding the oval portrait, where Robert W looks out on us, brooding silently over the ridiculous etc etc. Am I saying that Robert Wyatt is like a cloud? Maybe his beard is a bit like a hairy cloud.
If you would like this A3 original, it's watercolour on paper plus gold leaf. I don't think it's real gold though, and I'm not sure that real gold is a very Robert Wyatt n Alfie sort of metal. I could be wrong.
Only one of one, and there are no plans to make the screenprint again.
Sold unframed.
SORRY, THIS HAS SOLD OUT

I met Robert Wyatt and Alfie in 2015. And lovely they are. They had bought another Robert Wyatt acrylic painting of mine and we exchanged some emails on 2014. Here is Sea Song where he seems to sing without moving his lips at point, having a cig and drinking from a can.
Only one of one, and there are no plans to make the screenprint again.
Sold unframed.

Style Council Artwork
Sian Superman
The Style Council, á Paris.
Painted on cardboard, this is a colourful depiction of Mr Weller and Mr Talbot hanging out near the Eiffel Tower, wondering whether it's nippy enough to put their jumpers back on. Talbot's thinking about a having nice cold beer and maybe watching some chic French birds passing by. Weller's not sure if he should be "soaking up some culture" by going to see the Mona Lisa and then getting some biros from the gift shop. But, in the end, they're probably going to drink some beers and light up a few gaspers.
SORRY THIS HAS NOW SOLD. If you would like to commission a similar painting, or one with the same image, please get in touch using the contact form.

I still like the Style Council. A lot of people go on about the Jam {see below}, but Paul Weller obviously just wanted to have some fun and fuck off for a bit. There are moments such as when the Jam were doing Beat Surrender on Top of the Pops, along with Tracie Young, and Brucie and Rick look like they are already feeling surplus to requirements. Even though they're placed at the front.
That's TV Irony Gold.
Paul and Tracie are at the back looking cool, sharp and thin. They look like they've won.
So I've painted our Paul and our Mick, on cardboard - as you can see from this angled photo above. It's mostly like canvas board, and is a good surface. Just to let you know. All the greats painted on cardboard at one stage in their lives. Even Jack Vettriano.
Well maybe not Jack Vettriano.
Anyway, if you would like this... use the PayPal thingy below.
Measures 15x15 cm. Acrylics on cardboard. Sent first class signed for, price includes postage.

Richard Hell
Sian Superman
Happy New Year, if it's still all right to say that.
I have been listening to quite a lot ("quite a lot" - not very committal is it) of Richard Hell in the first couple of weeks of the year. Made sense to me. And I wanted to paint him and listen while I painted. Music that is about confusion and failure is a lot better to paint to than Simply The Best – although having written that down it might be good to do a sort of Power Anthem triptych along with We Built This City and Footloose. Or a Tina Turner special. And see what it comes out like...
Anyway. Confusion and failure are still AOK with me and Richard Hell is also a great name and is sort of inspiration for the Superman name... except I think Hell is much better – but it was taken.
I think we're all still in the blank generation, quite frankly. Or are we post-blank? Fake-blank? Almost dead? Probably.
And here it is, a version of the Blank Gen sleeve. There was, yes, a plectrum next to the brushes so I included that. Next time I may paint with a plectrum and see what happens (it's not unlike a palette knife) although that actually sounds dreadful written down.
Or I might do another Bros painted with spoons.
with "palette knife"
he's ripped his t shirt
Painted in acrylics on "Ampersand" archival art board, measures 13 x 20 cm. Any questions or for commissions, please use the contact page.

Thoughtful Davids
Sian Superman
Today is David Bowie's birth date. David!
Dave Dave Dave!!
Anyway.
I thought I'd paint the thin white duke 1976 David, who always looks quite cocky in the photos of the live shows - strutting n posing n holdin' skulls and that. Maybe it was the jaunty waistcoat. Maybe it was the red peppers.
But in this, he doesn't look like that at all, he looks quite sad. He's smoking a cigarette, yeah, but he's a little lost. Perhaps he is just thoughtful because some Kaballah type stuff is getting on his nerves and he needs a proper sandwich or something to keep him going.
Please order using the PayPal button below. This is painted in acrylics on canvas board, 20 x 20 cm. Only one available.
SORRY THIS HAS NOW SOLD
I also found some other pics, the last one left in all these cases....
Here's Low... the square one. David looks out while firey sort of stuff happens around him. He's probably thinking about the Kaballah here too or some squiggly lines that lead to some sort of enlightenment or maybe a William Burroughs joke.
And Diamond Dogs.... he's quite perky in this one, is David. He is a chirpy half man/half wolfy beast thing here and he likes it.
Painted in acrylics on canvas board, 20 x 20 cm. Only one left.

Folk Art 2016 Biscuit Pyramid!
Sian Superman
Hello!
And here is a quick round up of the protest biscuits for 2016... all are available but get in quick as they do get snapped up... [Click on the photo for a large version, this may work only on computer not mobile....]
PYRAMID ONE:
Ooh it's some USA-inspired protest custard creams made after the presidential election 2016, plus some general despairing ones....
PYRAMID TWO: Are some handy more UK-ish protest biscuits which wouldn't really stand up properly to make a bigger pyramid.
PYRAMID THREE: This is the sweary pyramid, smaller but really quite rude. These are quite angry biscuits because, quite frankly, a lot of tosspots seem to be "running the world".
PYRAMID FOUR: Three biscuits form a tiny but quite annoyed trio.

Prints and Biscs and Bellyaches
Sian Superman
Biscuits! Protest! Folk Art 2016 we're-all-doomed-oh-yes and then some.
If you liked the raw art biscuits, and wanted a print, they are still available. And it's still nearly-not-Christmas so there's plenty of time for one, or two, to fling its way to you in Seasonal Festive Stead. Why not cheer up every single person you know with the image of some quite sweary custard creams? What hollers "Christmas" more than a brightly-coloured, angry sugary snack? Nuffink. That's what.
The first print is A3 and features the Hit Parade of FU Brexit biscuits.
Print, framed, at the Grrrr! shop NW5
The second print is the A3 size FU Trump bastard US election protest one. It features Bastard Trump, broken flag, Oh Dear, We're All Doomed 2016, The State of America and Fuckin' Hell. These biscs are now resined, some have been sold and some are available here....
The print is freshly off the press....
The third print is a resin Protest biscuit, A2 size.
It's in still in the box we got from the printers....
And fourthly, it's the Riot biscuit in massive protesty rioty resin form as an A2 print. A vital addition to any wall for this, lovely spicy Christmastime.
Etc.
Please order using the PayPal buttons below. Contact me if you have any questions. All prints rolled up in a tube and sent Royal Mail signed for.
For the other resin anti-Brexit blah blah biscuits n that – the link is here. And if you're desperate for exciting paintings there's still time to order one - have a look round the site - the Robert Wyatt ones are still available plus Television and many more.
